Worship pads
Last updated 12 October 2026
A pad under a worship set carries the room from one song into the next. It holds the key while the band resets, and sits quietly under prayer, readings and announcements.
Hold the key between songs
Before a song starts, tap its key in Pads. The pad gives the singers their note and the band a tonal centre. It holds until you tap the key again.
Move to the next key without a gap
When the next song is in another key, tap that key. Pads crossfades from the old pad to the new one, so nobody hears the switch. Set the crossfade time on a knob to match the moment.
Under prayer and readings
Bring the volume fader down and the high cut in, and the pad becomes a soft bed that sits behind a voice.
Get it to the PA
Run a cable from the phone, tablet or Mac to the mixer, through a DI box on bigger stages. The live setup guide shows three setups and the cables for each.
Questions
Do I need a keyboard player to use pads?
No. Anyone on the team can run Pads from a phone, tablet or Mac: tap the key of the song and it plays.
How do I move from one song to the next?
Tap the key of the next song. The old pad fades out while the new one fades in, so the room never goes silent.
Can I control it from a MIDI controller?
Yes. Map the keys, filters, volume and crossfade to a MIDI controller with MIDI Learn, or use a ready-made layout for a supported controller.
